Tope Salami is a legal practitioner of International Repute and an ECOWAS Youth Ambassador who has been in the core practice of Intellectual Property/Technology, Media/Entertainment Law, General litigation and Corporate/Commercial transactions since being called to the Nigerian Bar Association in November, 2014. He has advised numerous individual clients, brands and corporate agencies across numerous countries in different continents on different aspects of the law, brokering multi-million dollar deals and forming relationships with top brand executives on a personal and working relationship.
He is the founder of Whitestone Solicitors and Consultancy, a Lagos based law firm which provides various types of legal services and consultancy to people in different spheres of law. The law firm stands solidly behind various creative brands as legal adviser, with involvement in top notch transactions involving different local and international parties.
Tope Salami has done a lot of work worthy of mention. He has worked with different multinational brands, from Chocolate City, Empawa, Sony ATV, BMI, PRS, SONGTRUST, Sony Music, Midem Africa, to mention a few. He led the legal team to quash the purported murder charge against musician Barryjhay in Ghana. He led a team to successfully negotiate various deals involving numerous clients with Universal Music Group, Empawa, Sony, SACEM. He has also been recognized by Midem, the world’s largest gathering of creatives and creative practitioners and was invited to speak at the Midem Conference. He has over the years had numerous speaking engagements within and outside his country of residence, from speaking at the Youngtreprenuers Entertainment Conference in Accra, Ghana to being invited to speak at the Midem Conference at Paris, France and more recently at the Intellectual Property Law Conference at the Ekiti State University, Ekiti, Nigeria, etc.
Over the past years, Tope Salami has been drawn to the Nigerian creative space and has dedicated the last years to having a better creative space in Nigeria in terms of structure, framework and legislation. Tope is a passionate engager in the field of Technology and Intellectual property and to this end has graced various stages with other top World practitioners to share his experience ( Within and beyond Africa), thoughts and knowledge in this developing field, particularly in Nigeria.
Further to his passion towards having a sane creative industry, he founded a Nigerian Creative firm named ‘The Creative Yard’ which caters for the needs of different creatives as he holds the firm belief in the quote” TALENT IS NOT SUFFICIENT TO BUILD A PROPER CREATIVE BRAND”. Creative yard’s sole purpose is to nurture and guide creatives for sustainable growth and development in their chosen field.
